Zach had his first dentist visit. We were pretty nervous taking him in, thinking he would be afraid to let them clean his teeth. He did great! The hygienist was really sweet - she let him squirt her water-squirter thing, which he thought was really cool, and she showed him how the cleaning tool tickled his finger before tickling his teeth. He opened "wide like a crocodile," and we sang the song from"The Wonder Pets Save the Baby Crocodile": "Teeth that are dirty can become very hurty; we know what to do: we will clean your teeth for you!" That made getting his teeth cleaned very fun, because we love the Wonder Pets (we taught the song to the hygienist for her future use). He let her floss his teeth, do a fluoride treatment, and even let the dentist check his teeth...no cavities! At the end, they let him pick out a toy from a special drawer. After hemming and hawing for a few minutes, he finally chose a bouncy ball - he's been carrying it around for the last couple of days. All in all, everyone left the dentist a lot happier than we were when we arrived...how many times can you say that in life?
